Description

Osmanthus is native to the Guangxi region of China, where Osmanthus Or is the principal among the 4 existing varieties of wild tree. Its orange flowers are extracted to produce an absolute that has the scent of old apricot/peach brandy discovered in a wooden closet, combining notes of blond wood and sun-drenched, carefully dried fruit with slightly leathery notes. Those with a Proustian nose will discover that the scent of downy apricot is enhanced by a sophisticated blend of three precious materials. The essential oil of the Davana flower gives this fragrance an elegant, slightly acidic feel, enriching it with ripe fruit and a woody, herbaceous, floral, slightly powdery, animalic and bitter flavour. The roughness of the extract of Bourgogne Blackcurrant Buds, which comes in five notes – buttery, fruity, budded, fungal and fresh balsamic – gives it a slightly pithy green structure. And finally, the illumination of Iris in absolute with its penetrating fragrance of violets and fresh linen drying in the wind, comes with a more prosaic suggestion of carrot. A hint of straw, dry and powdery, close to blackcurrant, may suggest itself, although this is not indicated in the olfactory pyramid; it may be due to the iris.

Throughout the evolution of the fragrance’s subtle, transparent, spring-like charm the impression of delicacy never dimishes. This incense is a worthy homage to a refined and little-known flower.
