Description
Art and substance. Styrax tears, the highest quality benzoin resin, is appreciated for its delicately sugary vanilla and balsamic notes. The resin is secreted by the alibou tree that grows in the forests of the Far East, especially in ancient Laos, and is of course at the centre of this oriental and mystical construction. It is enfolded in other materials, such as guaiac wood, which adds a slightly smoky, woody touch; various spices add a spicy, sprightly dimension. A hint of powder at the base wraps the whole scent in a caressing, delicate warmth. The incense will delight those allergic to sickly sweet vanilla fragrances; it is for lovers of direct, unadorned yet precious scents, the essence of which evokes the famous ‘retro’ Papier d’Arménie.
