Description
It is said that in 1680, Marie-Anne de La Trémoille, Princess of Ursins, also known as Princess of Nerola, fell in love with this perfume. In order to scent her body she filled her bath with orange blossom flowers; she used excessive quantities to perfume her clothes and gloves as well as the decorations and hangings of her Roman palace. As she often received the best Italian society, this scented emblem of the Nerola family became fashionable in Rome, and the name “Neroli” was adopted to designate the EO of bitter orange blossom.
Behind all perfume creation is a quest for a ‘strong idea’, a ‘clear message’ that will structure the fragrance. The idea of this incense was to gather all the treasures of the bitter orange tree: the fruit, through essence of bitter orange; the flower, through orange blossom in absolute, the essence of neroli; and finally, the branches from which we obtain the essence of petitgrain. These are brought together, creating a pleasing richness. This charming and indulgent opening is brought to a close through gentle oscillations between straw and verdure, beautiful and evanescent.
